Paper Lion

George Plimpton wants to write a story for Sports Illustrated on what it is like to be a quarterback for an NFL team. No one is willing to allow a klutzy amateur to go on the field for fear he'll kill himself. After several teams turn him down, Plimpton got the Detroit Lions to let him go to training camp. He tries to keep his true identity a secret from the real players. This is based on a true incident and many of the players play themselves in the movie.

Parachute Batallion

In this pre-Pearl Harbor recruiting poster, colonel's estranged son Bill Burke, football hero Donald Morse, and hillbilly Jeff Hollis enlist in the paratroopers. Paratrooper

Alan Ladd is the focus of this story based on the wartime raid on the German radar station at Bruneval. The raid was a combined services operation and the 2nd Battalion of the 1st Parachute Brigade was led by Major Frost, John (Major Snow). An RAF radar expert, Flight Sergeant C.W.H. Cox (Sergeant Box) accompanied the raiders to tell them what to take back to England.


Pardners

Her psychiatrist, Greg, believes that this condition is caused by James being over worked and under romantic with Penelope. She also tells Greg that she robs the business associates of James. But Greg is in love with Penelope - in fact everyone likes her. The problem is when she confesses to her crimes, no one believes her.

The Petrified Forest

Nearly all of her husbands treated her poorly. A social butterfly, she was a bad mother to her only son whose death in a plane crash broke her heart.


Popeye Doyle

Along the way, he meets and briefly romances a vivaciouis nightclub singer, who may or may not have had something to do with his wife's death.

Princess O'Rourke

Poor Princess Maria is visiting New York, but she's not having any fun. So her uncle suggests she spend a few days in San Francisco. Unfortunately she's nervous about going by plane. To calm her jitters, she takes a sleeping pill before the plane takes off. Sensing her nervousness, the pilot, navigator and stewardess all secretly give her pills. When bad weather forces the plane to head back to New York, the sleepy princess is left in the care of pilot Edward O'Rourke who takes her to his apartment to spend the night. When she comes to the next day, she finds a note left by O'Rourke asking her to meet him after work. The princess decides to find out what she's been missing and sneaks off to him. To keep her identity a secret, she tells O'Rourke that she's a poor waif sent from Europe to work as a maid in San Francisco. What she doesn't count on is that before the day is through O'Rourke will ask her to marry him.

Private Lessons

Phillip  is a regular fifteen year old rich kid, who has a wildly over enthusiastic interest in both sex and the opposite sex. He spends most of his time talking about the subject with his friends, and when he's not doing that, he's either spying on women getting changed, or going through his babysitter's (Sylvia Kristel) underwear drawer for cheap thrills. However, whilst Phillip’s father is away on business, the family's chauffeur and the babysitter hatch a plan to con their employer out of thousands of dollars. All Kristel has to do is seduce the adolescent boy, and then, following a bout of passion between them, she must pretend to die suddenly, causing Phillip to think he is guilty of killing her. If the plan succeeds, the chauffeur will then request that the boy hand over thousands of  dollars from his father's safe so that all will be kept quiet. However, things don't quite go according to plan.


The Private Lives of Elizabeth & Essex

An all-star cast in a lavish historical epic that featured as many fireworks on the set between Davis and Flynn as appeared on-screen. Davis makes an imperious Elizabeth who is both drawn to and suspicious of the dashing Essex (Flynn), who returns in triumph from Spain.


Private Number
    Starring: Robert Taylor, Loretta Young & Basil Rathbone

Richard Winfield is a handsome, aristocrat in love with Ellen Neal, a gorgeous woman from the lower class. Though they oppose the match, Richard's parents cope with the situation as best they can, but arrogant family butler, Wroxton works overtime to break up the happy couple. Wroxton, of course, is not entirely motivated by snobbery -- he has a craving for Ellen himself.


The Prizefighter & the Lady
    Starring: Myrna Loy & Max Baer

Steve is just a heavy duty bartender when Edwin J. Bennett, known as the Professor, starts training him for the ring. While doing road work, he is almost killed by a speeding car which crashes into a ditch. In the car is Belle Mercer and her driver. Steve takes Belle to a farmhouse and is smitten by her, but she is Willie Ryan's Girl. The fight is a breeze and later, Steve again meets Belle with Willie. That night, Steve and Belle disappear and return married, much to the disappointment of Ryan. Then Steve starts training in ernest and is 19 for 19 in the ring. However, he has an eye for the women and an expanding ego to match.


The Prowler
    Starring: Van Heflin, Evelyn Keyes & John Maxwell

Webb Garwood is a cynical policeman who believes that success comes from lucky breaks. Responding to a prowler complaint at the home of Susan Gilvray, he is immediately attracted to her and her wealth. He returns to "check up" on Susan, and they begin an affair, conducted while listening to her husband William's all-night radio program. Feeling guilty, Susan ends the relationship, but Garwood remains obsessed. He pretends to be a prowler on the Gilvray property so he can respond to another police call. Drawing William outside, he shoots him and makes it appear accidental. When Garwood manipulates Susan's confusion about the shooting, she buys his story, and the lovers marry. However, upon discovering that Susan is pregnant "too soon," they flee to give birth in secret, but eventually Susan learns the devastating truth.


Public Hero #1

The Great Jean Arthur stars in this quirky comedy-drama about an undercover cop (Chester Morris) and the plot to capture a gang leader (Joseph Calleia) who happens to be Jean Arthur's brother. Lionel Barrymore is along for the ride as a drunken doctor (a nice comic turn).


Puma Man
    Starring: Donald Pleasence & Walter George Alton

Aztec mask with the power to control minds is unearthed by the evil Dr. Kobras (Pleasence) who plans to use it to rule the world. Only a human who has the power to wear a magic belt can stop him. Enter, mild-mannered paleontologist, Tony Farmes (Alton), who inherits the belt but finds himself a reluctant hero. He quickly changes his mind when Kobras’ thugs capture his girlfriend. Plus he loves his new powers! He can fly, see in the dark and use his hands like giant claws to fight and scale walls. COOL!!!


Pushover
