The Magic of Lassie

Lassie is legally wrested from freckled-faced her freckeled faced owner by an evil land barron, who hopes that the kid's grandpa will sell his valuable vineyards to "ransom" the dog. His' scheme falls through, and Lassie makes her getaway, embarking upon a grueling trek to be reunited with her young master. Musical numbers dot the way for Lassie to make it home.

Merry Andrew

A downtrodden but creative English school-teacher on archeological trip discovers joys of love and circus life with a beautiful acrobat.

Michael Nesmith Live on Austin City Limits Video

When the famed PBS television series opened up it’s19th season viewers were treated with an extremely rare performance, by none other than the legendary Michael Nesmith. As the former Monkee & Grammy winner made his way through hits & new material, the audience audience enjoyed the music as much as the whimsical banter. Included are the songs, Joanne, Rio, Laugh Kills Lonesome, Yellow Butterfly & Twilight on the Trail.

Moon Over Miami

Kay, Barbara and Susan Latimer come into a small legacy when they expected a large one, then abandon the Texas greasy-spoon where they work to hunt in Miami for rich husbands, said to be plentiful there. Barbara and Susan posing as the secretary and maid of "wealthy" Kay, they check into a posh hotel, and soon Kay is in the delightful predicament of being pursued by two handsome, wealthy bachelors at once. But Musical Comedy Complications arise. Much singing and dancing including the number "You Started Something".

Mother Wore Tights

 In this chronicle of a vaudeville family, Myrtle McKinley (class of 1900) goes to San Francisco to attend business school, but ends up in a chorus line. Soon, star Frank Burt notices her talent, hires her for a "two-act", then marries her. Incidents of the marriage and the growing pains of eldest daughter Miriam are followed, interspersed with nostalgic musical numbers.

My Dream is Yours

Conceited singer Garry Mitchell refuses to renew his radio contract, so agent Doug Blake decides to find a new personality to replace Garry. In New York, he finds Martha Gibson, a single mother with a great voice. He arranges for her to move to Hollywood, but then has a problem trying to sell her to the show's sponsor. Doug tries every trick he can think of to make Martha a star, and as the two work more closely, he falls in love with her. Complicating matters further is when Martha meets and becomes attracted to Garry.

Music for Millions
    Starring: June Allyson, Jimmy Durante
                       & Margaret O'Brien

This is an unusual WW II film but it's quality all the way. June Allyson plays cello in Jose Iturbi's orchestra. She is pregnant and as the orchestra tours, her fellow girlfriend orchestra members try to keep the news from her that her husband is missing and reported lost. It's a real tear-jerker but one filled with hope. Margaret O'Brien is her usual earnest and precocious self as the star of the film, believing in just about everything good and in people foremost. Marsha Hunt (looking for all the world like a very young Rita Moreno) does a fine job heading the supporting cast of protective girlfriends.

New Faces of 1937
    Starring: Ann Miller, Milton Berle, Joe Penner
                    & Harriet Hilliard

A crooked producer tries to link his backers by producing a flop and disappearing with the money. Patricia, one of the chorus girls has given her money, too and after the disappearing of the producer one of the backers is in charge of production, trying the same trick. But Patricia tries to convince him to give the show a chance.

New Orleans
    Starring: Billie Holiday & Louis Armstrong

When a young classically trained singer falls for Nick Duquesne the self proclaimed "King of Basin Street" her mother and polite society will stop at nothing to close Basin Street and chase Nick out of town. Louis Armstrong and Billie Holiday appear and in particular this is a must for Louis Armstrong fans. Set in 1917, jazz and ragtime music are frowned upon by decent society.

On The Avenue

A new Broadway show starring Gary Blake shamelessly lampoons the rich Carraway family. To get her own back, daughter Mimi sets out to ensnare Blake, but the courtship is soon for real, to the annoyance of his co-star, hoofing chanteuese Mona Merrick

On the Old Spanish Trail
    Starring: Roy Rogers, Andy Devine, Jane Frazee
                        & Sons of the Pioneers

With a $10,000 note Roy co-signed for the Pioneers due, Roy plans to get the money from the reward for the capture of the Gypsy. After he captures him he lets him go realizing he is innocent and it's not long before the real outlaws show their hand.

On The Riviera
    Starring: Gene Tierney & Danny Kaye

Jack Martin, an American entertainer working cabarets on the French Riviera, does an impersonation of philandering industrialist Henri Duran so convincingly that even Duran's beautiful wife is fooled by it. When Duran's business interests compel him to be in London when he should be hosting a large soiree at his home, Martin is persuaded to impersonate Duran at the party. But matters threaten to get out of hand when Martin is confronted by several of the philanderer's women, and by Duran's ruthless business rival, M. Periton .

On With the Show
    Starring: Joe E. Brown & Betty Compson


The plot involves the out-of-town tryout of a new musical comedy, and the people who perform therein: A bitchy leading lady, an arrogant comedy lead, and a star struck chorus kid. At the very last moment, the leading lady refuses to go on, forcing the producer to put the chorus girl in her place. It turns out that the star's seemingly rotten behavior was deliberately designed to give the chorine her Big Break.

Pin Up Girl

Glamorous Lorry Jones, the toast of a Missouri military canteen, has become "engaged" to almost every serviceman she's signed her pin-up photo for. The Pirate

The Point

Princess Tam-Tam

Meat Loaf stars as Travis Redfish, a beer truck driver whose life changes when he stops to help fix a broken down trailer that contains rock 'n roll equipment - and a sixteen-year-old glitter spangled groupie named Lola (Kaki Hunter). When she coerces him into driving the trailer to a gig in Austin, Texas, Travis gets hired on as a roadie because of his ability to fix anything. Fun chaos and romance ensue as his travels to Los Angeles and New York, finding fame along the way- as the best roadie in the word!

Sally

At the restaurant, she meets Blair, and they both fall for each other, but Blair is engaged to Marcia. Sally is hired to impersonate a famous Russian dancer named Noskerova, but at that engagement, she is found to be a phony and that Blair is engaged. Undaunted, she proceeds with her life and has her show on Broadway, but she still thinks of Blair.

Sergeant Deadhead

In this comedy, a hapless Army sergeant's plans to marry are temporarily delayed after he accidentally ends up launched into space with a chimpanzee. Upon his return, he is a changed man and is ultimately sent to prison after he threatens to go public with the mix-up. Meanwhile, suave Sgt. Donovan, Deadhead's double, takes his place at the altar. To stop him, Deadhead breaks out of prison and becomes his old self again just as he arrives at the honeymoon suite. Naturally he wins his rightful bride and happiness ensues.

Shine on Harvest Moon
    Starring: Ann Sheridan, Jack Carson & Dennis Morgan

Ann Sheridan and Dennis Morgan, as singing duo Nora Bayes and Jack Norworth, are wonderful portraying the Broadway stars who had to struggle just to perform together. The beautiful Ann Sheridan does a fine job portraying a women who loves her partner but is willing to make a sacrifice for what she believes will help his career.

Sioux City Sue
    Starring: Gene Autry & Lynn Roberts

Talent scout Sue Warner takes Gene to Hollywood to play the voice of a singing donkey in a musical. Disgusted, he goes back home to find outlaws plan to blow up his dam  and drown his animals.

Song of Nevada
    Starring: Roy Rogers & Dale Evans

Western girl moves east and influenced badly by her snobby fiancé. She returns to sell her deceased father's ranch. The father isn't really dead, though; he's hoping that his friend Roy can restore the girl's western values. Songs include "New Moon Over Nevada," "A Cowboy has to Yodel in the Morning," and "The Harum Scarum Baron of the Harmonium."

Song of the South
    Starring: James Baskett, Ruth Warrick & Bobby Driscoll

Uncle Remus draws upon his tales of Brer Rabbit to help little Johnny deal his confusion over his parents' separation as well as his new life on the plantation. The tales: The Briar Patch, The Tar Baby and Brer Rabbit's Laughing place.


Sons of the Pioneers
    Starring: Roy Rogers, Gabby Hayes
                    & The Sons of the Pioneers

Night raiders are burning down the ranchers' barns and poisoning their cattle. Sheriff Gabby, unable to cope, goes east to get help from Roy, descendent of two famous sheriffs. Roy is a young entomologist who would rather study bugs than strap on guns. He finally gives in to Gabby's wishes and ends the terror. Songs include "He's Gone Up The Trail," "Come And Get It," "Things Are Never What They Seem," Trail Herdin' Cowboy," and "The West Is In My Soul."

Springtime In The Rockies

Broadway partners Vicky Lane and Dan Christy have a tiff over Christy's womanizing. Jealous Vicky takes up with her old flame and former dance partner, Victor Price, and Dan's career takes a nosedive. In hopes of rekindling their romance and getting Vicky back on the boards with him, Dan follows her to a ritzy resort in the Canadian Rockies, where she and Victor are about to open their new act. But things get complicated when Dan wakes after a bender to find that he's hired an outlandish Latin secretary, Rosita Murphy, which makes Vicky think he's just up to his old tricks again.

Tarnished Angel

The ex-fiancée of a young rich man becomes the companion of a jewel thief, forming a vaudeville act with face "cure", but after she discovers, that she can really cure people, she decides to quit.

That Girl From Paris

This light-hearted musical romance follows the exploits of a beautiful French opera star abandons her fiance’ and stows away aboard a New York-bound ocean liner so she can be near the bandleader she really loves. That Night in Rio

Another Funny and Musical Work From the 40's. An entertainer (Ameche) in Rio impersonates a wealthy aristocrat (also Ameche). When the aristocrat's wife (Faye) asks him to carry the impersonation further, complications ensue.

Three Little Girls in Blue

Three sisters, fresh off the farm, set out for Atlantic City disguised as an heiress, her secretary, and a maid, in the hope that one of them will land a rich husband.

Tin Pan Alley

In 1915, Calhoun and Harrigan are struggling songwriters who team up with vocal talents Katie and Lily Blane. With the Blanes singing their songs, the writers become more prosperous and famous. Harrigan and Katie Blane become romantically involved and he writes "America, I Love You" which he promises she can introduce to the world. When the world-famous Nora Bayes asks to sing Katie's song, Harrigan cannot refuse. Upset at the broken promise, Katie leaves for London along with her sister. As their prosperity fades without the singers, the two men enlist in World War I and run into the sisters in England.


Too Many Girls

Mr. Casey's daughter Connie wants to go to the Pottawatomie college and he sends without her knowledge four football players as her bodyguards. The college is in financial trouble, so her bodyguards use their salary for the college. The football players join the college team, and so the team becomes one of the best. One of the football players, Clint, falls in love with Connie, but when she discovers, that he is her bodyguard she decides to go back to the East, her bodyguards follow her, so the football team is very weak for the game next day.

Top Speed

In this musical comedy, a bored office clerk finds much-needed excitement by masquerading as a millionaire. To do so, he borrows the speedboat of his girl friend's father. Slapstick mayhem ensues on the water until the lad ends up winning the big race. Andy Clark discovers he was cheated out of a half interest in partner Mike's business, now a thriving dance hall in 1892 Chicago. Unable to win it back, Andy schemes to make Mike's position untenable. He also hopes to turn Ruby Summers, Mike's motor-mouthed burlesque queen, into a classier entertainer, and incidentally to make her his own. But at the last minute, Andy's revenge comes unraveled.

With a Song in My Heart

Jane Froman, an aspiring songstress, lands a job in radio with help from pianist Don Ross, whom she later marries. You Can't Have Everything

Starving playwright Judith Wells meets playboy writer of musicals, Gordon Macrae, over a plate of stolen spaghetti. He persuades producer Sam Gordon to buy her ridiculous play "North Winds" just to improve his romantic chances, and even persuades her to sing in the sort of show she pretends to despise. But just when their romance is going well, Gordon's former flame Lulu reveals the ace up her sleeve.

You Were Meant for Me

1920's bandleader Chuck Arnold meets hometown girl Peggy at one of the band's dances and next day weds her. Though she loves him, life on the road becomes increasingly difficult for her, but it is the 1929 Crash that makes things really tough for the both of them.


You’re My Everything

In 1924, stage-struck Boston blueblood Hannah Adams picks up musical star Tim O'Connor and takes him home for dinner. One thing leads to another, and when Tim's show rolls on to Chicago a new Mrs. O'Connor comes along as incompetent chorus girl. Hollywood beckons, and we follow the star careers of the O'Connor family in silents and talkies. Includes good imitation "silents" with classic cameo by Buster Keaton.

Ziegfeld Girl

Discovery by Flo Ziegfeld changes a girl's life but not necessarily for the better, as three beautiful women find out when they join the spectacle on Broadway: Susan, the singer who must leave behind her ageing vaudevillian father; vulnerable Sheila, the working girl pursued both by a millionaire and by her loyal boyfriend from Flatbush; and the mysterious European beauty Sandra, whose concert violinist husband cannot endure the thought of their escaping from poverty by promenading her glamour in skimpy costumes.

Zouzou
    Starring: Josephine Baker & Jean Gabin

As children, Zouzou and Jean are paired in a traveling circus as twins: she's dark, he's light. After they've grown, he treats her as if she were his sister, but she's in love with him. In Paris, he's a music hall electrician, she's a laundress who delivers clean underwear to the hall. She introduces him to Claire, her friend at work, and the couple fall in love. Jean conspires to get the show's star out of town and for the theater manager to see the high-spirited Zouzou perform. When Jean's accused of murder and Zouzou needs money to mount his defense, she pleads to go on stage. Her talents may save the show, but can anything save her dream of life with Jean?
