Artists
United Against Apartheid- Sun
City
This album was released in 1985, right on the heels of The Band Aid & USA for AFRICA records to battle world hunger. Little Steven decided that something had to be done to raise awareness and funds to battle the Apartheid Government in South Africa. Finding that the resort town of Sun City, was using huge amounts of money to attract some of the world’s best acts to perform there, Little Steven organized a large amount of artists to record a record, in hopes of bringing a public outcry to end Apartheid. This album is long out of print and now available to you here on CD.

Sun City / No More Apartheid / Revolutionary SituationCrack The Sky – World in Motion
By 1983, Crack The Sky was about to go into a totally different direction with their music, World in Motion was the first step. Though it was another great album from CTS, it was not what fans were used to, and the sales of the album reflected as much. This was the first album the released after being dropped from their long time label, Lifesong, which soon went into bankruptcy. Originally released on the now defunct Criminal records label, this album faded into obscurity. One of the major reasons for the inability with fans to identify with this release was, CTS was also without Rick Witkowski, their lead guitarist since the beginning. Rick had left over artistic differences with John Palumbo. The two would later mend their fences for their 1989 tour.

This album was briefly featured on an episode of TV Show in a comical bit. A great example of pure 60’s, teen idol bubble gum music. Originally released on Colpix Records, this is the first time this album has been offered on CD. Enjoy this one Monkee fans!!!

Picture it……Washington D C , in the early 80’s, the new wave music scene is in full swing in the nation’s capital, but there is a long-haired heavy metal band on the rise to stardom. They call themselves DC Star, and they make quite a name for themselves in the Washington D C area. Their exposure secures them a deal to write, record & perform the famous “ It’s Miller Time “ jingle for the well known brewery, that is followed by a deal with Escape Records to record and release a 5 song EP ( at that time the safest & most economical way of introducing a new act to the public ). This EP is released with a twist though, as it was a vinyl picture disc, making it a rather expensive EP, at list price of 7.99 ( EPs were usually between 4.99 – 5.99 as opposed to albums which were 7.99 – 9.99 at that time ). Still the EP sold quite well, and lead to a 2nd lp a year or so later. Shortly after that D C Star disbanded. Here on CD ( not a picture disc ) is that 5 song EP. Including their FM Radio classic,” Is it You”.

This was the only studio album released by this quartet. Though the tour to support this album was a booming success, most music fans showed no interest in this album when it was released in 1976 — it was most certainly their loss. Though lightweight and fluffy, this album ended up being the most consistent Monkees-related release since Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn & Jones, the fourth Monkees album from 1967.In fact, one of the Cuts, ‘You & I’, was re-done on the Monkees 1997 reunion album ‘ Justus ‘. This album has been digitally remastered on CD.

live at Yubin Chokin Hall in Tokyo,
July 1976, this out of print album captured the legendary tour of what
was to billed as The Monkees. However, due to a legal ruling, that
named was never to be used and the two members of that famous band,
along with the oft-times collaborators, toured as a foursome using
their last names. Still Monkees fans search high and low for this
less-than successful album, as it is full of classic tunes from not
only the Monkees, but Boyce & Hart as well.

The Iron
City Houserockers -
Cracking Under Pressure
Their 4th & final release on their original label, MCA, proved to be their most commercially successful, both artistically & financially. They incorporated lush keyboard arrangements inspired by the New-Wave sound that was then just beginning to emerge. MCA also, instigated they shorten their name to simply ‘ The Houserockers’, this opened up a new door for them with radio stations, but alienated many of their die hard rocking fans. Nevertheless, it was too little too late, as The Iron City Houserockers were dropped by MCA just 21 days after the release of this album. The album did become their best-selling, but they never really caught on with the record buying public to any great extent. They were truly one of the best Rock Bands out there from 1976-1980. This being their last album, and the circumstances surrounding it, have made this their MOST RARE album. Now enjoy it on CD.

Saturday mornings in the 70’s came alive on ABC’s ‘Kroft Super Show’. A show that was filled with cartoons, live action serials, & plenty of bubblegum music, which was furnished by the show’s hosts: Kaptain Kool & The Kongs. They were a band that was fronted by Michael Lembeck, who went on to have a degree of success in sitcoms like ‘One Day at a Time’ & numerous guest shots on TV Shows. Though they band did not play their own music, they did however, sing all the songs on this lost & rare album. They even made an appearance on ‘American Bandstand’ in support of the album when it was released in 1976.

The 2nd offering from Mare Winningham is even more fetching than her first album. Mare's voice is beautiful, and her music and lyrics are at once catchy and poetic...heart-felt and giddy. Her guitar playing is right on track with her dulcimer playing. Both are fantastic. Her writing ability is simple and yet somehow complex at the same time. This album sits on many Top 10 lists of folk music released in the 90’s. Do not miss the chance of adding this "too well hidden gem" to your CD collection today!

Mare
Winningham- What Might Be
It wasn’t a huge shock that Mare Winningham had talent. She made her debut on The Gong Show when she was only 14, and won enough money to go to Acting Camp that summer. She became an extremely accomplished actress, having been in numerous smash hit movies ( St.Elmo’s Fire, Turner & Hooch, & Georgia to name only a few ), Been nominated for an Oscar, Winning an Emmy, and many other awards, but when she signed a recording contract and released her 1st folk album to huge critical acclaim, the public began to notice her for her musical talents as well. It turned out that she was a very talented songwtriter, arranger and singer. The company that released this album, Bay Cities, has long since closed their doors, forcing this album into an out of print status, but we now offer it to you….Enjoy!!

Ted Nugent - State of Shock
After a string of successful albums in the early-mid 70s, Ted Nugent then
released a string of not so successful albums in the late 70s. This was the
2nd of what would be 3, less than expected works in a row. But the lack of
commercial success for those albums, in no way, took anything away from the
masterful metal sound of the ‘ Motor City Madman’ as every cut over this
period was awesome indeed. This album, the least successful of the 3 mentioned,
is long out of print, and very hard to find. Enjoy the music and especially

The
Temptones featuring Daryl Hall
The Temptones were a blue-eyed soul group from Philadelphia, PA. Their recording career began while they attended college and lasted less than two years, from 1966 to 1967. Daryl Hall, who went on to superstardom with John Oates, debuted with the Temptones as their lead singer. The other members were Barry Glazer, Ken Halpern, Brian Utain, and Paul Fogel (considered the fifth Temptone). Oates joined the group toward their end playing rhythm guitar on live gigs; he never recorded with the Temptones. They were more popular live than their recordings, however. They played many gigs including two Freedom Shows in Philadelphia, the Uptown Theater, and several television shows including The Jerry Blavatt Show. Here is the complete catalog of their on CD. recordings (You’ll notice wide range of differences in the same song, between different studio sessions.)

Vanity
6
As part of the Prince Stable of the 80’s music scene, Prince grouped his girlfriend, former girlfriend & wardrobe mistress to form The Hookers. That name would later be scrapped in favor of Vanity 6. The group went on to record this one & only album, before personal differences broke the group up. However, on this album, Vanity and her colleagues are insanely fun. Prince's stamp is all over this 1982 release, which finds Vanity, Brenda, and Susan backed by the Time. The raunchy lyrics reflect Prince's obsession with all things sexual, and like Prince, Vanity 6 manages to bridge the gap between funk/R&B and rock/pop/new wave. Even if the sexually exploitive lyrics become predictable after awhile, this LP is quite diverse and unpredictable musically. Prince even guest vocals on ‘If a Woman Answers, Don’t Hang Up’ as the jealous girlfriend. There are 2 Bonus cuts on this disc: The Ultra-Rare ‘Vibrator’ that Warner Bros simply refused to release because of it’s extreme explicitness, and the original demo for ‘Sex Shooter’ originally done by Vanity 6 here, it was later done by Apollonia 6 ( what became of Vanity 6 after Vanity quit to go solo and was replaced by Apollonia Katero ) in the movie Purple Rain.

Thinking that this meant her success depended totally on Prince, Motown dropped her from their label and her albums faded into obscurity. This is her solo debut album now available on CD.
